How can we introduce visitors to Boutari Winery ’s profile?

The “journey” of the Boutari Company – one of the most historical wine-making industries of Greece – which was founded in 1879 in Naoussa Imathias,.but its latest ornament, the winery in Crete, started its operation in 2004 with the first vines planted in the early ’90s. At 215 meters of altitude and aiming to feature the dynamic’s of Cretan wine, the estate’s vineyard contains local and international varieties,.while previously it had been operating as “experimental”, cultivating varieties like Mavrotragano, Assyrtiko and Aidani to observe their adjustment and final efficiency.

All the above lead the firm Boutari to become and remain the synonym of quality and innovation for the viticultural region of Peza.

Definitely white Fantaxometocho and the red Scalarea, both from the company’s own vineyards with the P.G.I. Heraklion indication.

Fantaxometocho, Boutari Crete

It is a dry wine that matures with his fine lees for 5 months and stands out for its bright yellow-white color and greenish tints. Its scent is intense and expressive with melon, apricot, pineapple, citrus and lemon flower aromas framed with sweet ripen hints of honey and jasmine. It’s balanced full-bodied leads up to a lasting aftertaste. Matches perfectly with aromatic salads, potherbs and appetizers like dolmades gialantzi with zucchini flowers,.fish and sea-foods as mussel pilaf, snails, white meats with white sauces and fatty aromatic cheeses.

Scalarea, Οινοποιία Μπουτάρη

Scalarea is the combination of the local variety Kotsifali with the cosmopolitan Syrah. It has matured in French and American barrels for 12 months and its color is remarkably deep red with vivid purple highlights. The wine glass is overflown with rich aromas of ripening fruits, raspberry,.cherry and plum mixed up pleasantly with the aromas of oak, chocolate, and roasted coffee. It is an exuberant wine with structure and balance between fruit and wood that ends up to a long fruity aftertaste.
